THE KRI-KRI
The Kri-Kri, also known as the Cretan wild goat or Agrimi, is a wild goat native to Crete. It has lived there since the time of the Minoan civilization. The Minoans were fascinated by these goats and often depicted them in their art. Unlike other animals in Minoan scenes, the Kri-Kri did not seem to have religious significance. Instead, the emphasis was on the joy of the hunt and appreciation for the animal itself.
Unfortunately, today this species is endangered and survives only in a few protected areas, such as the Samaria Gorge National Park and three islands surrounding Crete.
